From Brett's point of view:

For me, the very first time I can vividly remember thinking "Man, I really like this girl" was at FCC Youth camp in 2014. During this camp, I had a conversation with Daniel Kutsche about how I liked her, and he promptly found her little brother and said, "One day, Brett is going to be your brother-in-law." Little did any of us know, he was correct.

Over the next few years, I would periodically shoot my shot over social media and repeatedly get denied each time. As time went on, we both went off to college and had virtually zero communication. However, once COVID hit, the Lord brought Emily back into my circle (one of the best things to ever happen).

In 2021, I decided to legitimately pursue her. We had gone out on a few dates and truly enjoyed each other's company. Although, all signs pointed to me enjoying my time a little more than she did. I was immediately swept away by her character and her beauty. I will say it took her a little longer to get where I was though... three years to be exact. Despite never officially dating, we talked almost daily for a little over a year. Though things didn't work the first time around, the Lord used the next few years to mature each of us in different ways.

Now comes 2024 (greatest year ever). One day, in the early months of the year, I was cleaning out my room and found a book that Emily had let me borrow years ago. I knew that this book would be a decent conversation starter. Once I had finally gathered up the courage to give "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" back to her, we hit it off. We started talking daily and all the familiar feelings of having one of my dearest friends in my life again came flooding back. But this time, there was a new sense of maturity in both of us. After a little over a week of dating, I knew that this was it (proof is in the time stamp of the note on my phone from April 7th).

We are so grateful for this new season of life and the people who have played such a pivotal role in our lives individually and as a couple. We are so undeserving of the Lord's goodness in our lives and continue to thank Him for the work He is doing in and through us.
